The name does not lie: these sticks rip. After years of maintaining the status quo, Elan is ready to try something new. A whole new design, internal construction, and new sizing, the Elan Ripstick 102 slots perfectly into their collection as the most versatile ski they offer. Lightweight enough to feel flickable and maneuverable, but not too light to be deflected in rough snow. An extended effective edge for stability and predictability on edge, but enough rocker to navigate tight lines across the mountain. You know, a ski that does everything. It's harder than it sounds.
To accomplish this, years ago Elan brought back the asymmetrical ski design with a dedicated left and right ski. With the outside edge featuring more rocker and the inside edge featuring an extended camber line, the ski balances stability and maneuverability. Your ski is freer to initiate the next turn, while your inside edge provides more precise edge hold than you'd expect for a ski this maneuverable. That gives you extra confidence on icy trails and the tight bump lines. We think the Elan Ripstick 102 is ideal for folks looking for a ski on the wider side of all-mountain, but plenty versatile for all trail conditions. 102mm is enough platform to find good float in softer snow, but nimble enough to carve groomers and tighter terrain. But the true calling card of the Ripstick is that this thing is remarkably agile for its size. So, if quickness is your priority, this is a great way to break into the wider skis without feeling bulky.
