We need to determine the widest part of your skis by either:
- Method 1: Look up the dimensions of your skis online or look at your topsheets where the dimensions are normally printed. They will be something like 134/100/116. In this cases, the biggest number is 134 meaning your skis are 134mm wide at the tip.
- Method 2: Determine the widest part of your skis in millimeters by measuring them at the widest part of the tip. If your ruler is in centimeters, then multiply the cm by 10 to get mm.
Confirm your measurement: Your ski tips are likely around 130-150 if they are powder skis, 120-135 if they are all mountain skis, and less if they are skinny skis.
Climbing skins for alpine touring allow you to walk uphill in the backcountry. Having skins for skis opens a whole new world of skiing.
