Oh, Elan, you've really done it this time. It won't be long before a portion of one of my paychecks goes towards a pair of these bad boys. The Ripstick Black Edition is the product of what happens when a ski company makes a great pair of skis (the regular Ripsticks), and listens to their customers to make an even better version (the Black Edition). With enough carbon to charge these puppies down an icy black diamond at Eldora, the Black Edition also maintains light enough of a weight for me to land my first 360 on. If you want a fun carving ski at a light weight in the 95-105mm underfoot category, the Elan Ripstick Black Edition 102 was made to do just that!

For the riders that love the sound of the Ripstick, but want a touch more heft and charge in the core, the Elan Ripstick Black Edition 102 is the perfect match for you. The BE uses the same integral rocker design as the other Ripstick skis that make it so darn quick and agile, but adds additional carbon reinforcement to help dampen and stabilize the ski in tough snow conditions. A carbon frame and strips beef up the whole ski, giving you more longitudinal and torsional rigidity for high speeds or edge angles. If you ski fast in particularly firm or choppy conditions, but still like the sound of the flickable and quick nature of the Ripstick series, this is a great way to go.
