This Ski Is A Staff Favorite:

Powder7 Staff Pick Harry

One of my favorite pairs of skis I've ever been on. Took these to my trip to Alaska this year and they were absolutely amazing. Super damp, hugged the groomers and were just silky smooth from top to bottom. With a 102 underfoot, this ski was able to tackle anything the mountain threw at me.

If you take a look at my picture on this website, you'll see that I've got my arms around my one true love, pointing some finger guns with a smile of pure joy on my face. That one true love is the Blizzard Rustler 10. Dramatic? Maybe. But ladies and gents, there's a reason this ski ranks towards the top of the list of the ever crowded "all-mountain" skis category year after year since it's inception in 2018. At 102 underfoot, this ski lands in that perfect waist width sweet spot in my opinion, especially if you prefer your daily driver to be a bit on the wider side. What really sets this ski apart to me, is the sheet of metal down the middle of the ski, right where you need it to provide that torsional stability to lay down some serious trenches on the groomers, but at the same time the uber rockered and soft tips and tails, providing the float and maneuverability in the fun stuff (read: trees and bumps). Super easy to pivot, yet at the same time super easy to carve, I have a hard time recommending another ski to anyone looking for that perfect daily driver (which is everyone, let's be honest).

I'll shoot straight: The Rustler 10 is, in my book, the best ski of 2018. Why? It defines its own niche. In the B.R. (Before Rustler) years, finding a ski in the justifiably popular and crowded field of versatile all-mountain options around 100mm underfoot involved choosing between hard-snow and soft-snow pleasure. Not anymore. I've taken the Rustler down hard-packed and hairy steeps, cut-up back bowls, powder-choked trees, and fast groomers. The ski doesn't just do everything, it crushes everything. And it's not hard to see why. Titanal and carbon make it bomber strong, while its shape, rocker, and multi-wood core give it energy and playfulness. The kicker? It's shockingly lightweight for what it is, making it as much a viable backcountry option as a resort stud. Well done, Blizzard.

Our Take:

Year after year, the Blizzard Rustler 10 is a tried and true "do-it-all" ski out West. Falling on the wide side of all-mountain at 102mm underfoot, the Rustler 10 is something you can confidently reach for when you aren't sure what the mountain will throw at you. Steeps and trees? Bumps and jumps? Groomer hot laps? Pow stashes? All of it. Now, for 2023-2024, we're treated to an updated construction. Blizzard tweaked the metal shape to be more like a fork, with titanal underfoot and around the edges of the ski through the entire tip and tail. This gives you better stability when moving through variable snow, while retaining some torsional flex to keep the ride more lively when you luck out with some ideal snow. The Rustler also finally gets to join the True Blend party -- Blizzard's method of strategically placing stiffer wood underfoot with softer wood at the tip and tail -- with a new wood core that provides even more power where you need it. Combined with a tweaked rocker profile to give you better edge hold on those groomer hot laps, the new Rustler 10 is more stable in variable stuff, while remaining nimble and more pivot-y than other directional skis out there. And when the snow does come around? You'll feel confident to explore new terrain or find that cliff drop you've been eyeing all season.

Features:

  • - Freeride Rocker
  • - True Blend Wood Core: Paulownia/Beech/Poplar
  • - Flux Form Titanal Frame
  • - 1975 grams / 180cm

Blizzard Rustler 10 Reviews:

Love these skis. Better than I expected on the groomers and very solid at speeds up to 50 mph. That’s as fast as I ski. Wonderful in the soft stuff. Bought on the recommendation of the Powder 7 staff. Thanks, Jim F

Most fun all mountain ski I've ever used. The only reason that they don't get 5 stars is because I had some delamination in the tails. Blizzard was quick to rectify this issue, and sent me a 2021 pair which has been even better. Great ski!

Fun ski (for the right conditions)

Good all around ski; not as stable on harder snow as I would like, but the tradeoff is worth it on softer days. Lightweight and easy to maneuver, which is what I was going for. Not recommended for east coast or primarily groomer skiing, but otherwise a really great choice.

  Great all mountain ski

After a 1/2 dozen years on Dynastar Powder Trac 89 looking for a ski a little wider under foot but still responsive enough to ski the bumps. Love the ski!

  Great all around ski

Very versatile ski. Not perfect for a hard edge on a groomer, or not as perfect as a super fat ski on big powder days, but this guy is a beast that handles all mountain extremely well. Glad I didn't go shorter than the 180s (6' 3")
