I've used the Shift 10 quite a bit in the resort and the backcountry. It's pretty light and gives me tons of confidence when I'm skiing down challenging resort terrain or variable backcountry snow. The Shift is easy to use and this lower DIN version is perfect for me since I usually set me DIN to a 5 or 6. This one binding makes for the perfect setup that can be used both in bounds and in the backcountry.

Our Take:

The Shift binding made waves in the ski industry with its debut two seasons ago. As the first non-frame binding to conform to the safety standards of regular alpine bindings, it gave aggressive skiers the reliability of an alpine binding - with elastic travel in the heel and toe - in a package light enough for real backcountry touring and long bootpacks. At 1740 grams for the pair, it's not as light as full-tech bindings, but towers over them when it comes to skiability. Now offered in a 10-DIN option, with a DIN range of 4-10, the unmatched versatility of the Shift MNC is now available to lighter weight and less experienced skiers. Perfect for those who only want one setup for splitting time between backcountry tours and resort laps, or for lighter weight and/or less experienced backcountry skiers who want the reliability of a traditional alpine binding on the descent. For the amount of work it took to earn those turns, you should be able to ski them with confidence. The Shift is available in many different colorways: Salomon, Atomic and Armada. Each binding is structurally identical. Only the colors and branding vary.

Features:

  • - DIN range: 4-10
  • - Multi-Norm Certified
  • - Carbon-Infused PA Material

  • - Automatic Wing Adaptation
  • - Easy Step-in
  • - Locking Brakes
  • - Low Profile Chassis
  • - Oversized Platform
  • - Hike and Ride Switch
  • - Crampon Compatible
