Most of my time on snow has been spent with forward-mounted, freestyle-oriented skis. The Blizzard Bonafide 97 is not that. It's actually the complete opposite of that. So, I was skeptical (read: doubtful) that the two of us would be compatible. Well, opposites attract, right? Our first few turns together were a bit awkward, but it was a me problem, and after a few runs of getting to know each other, that awkwardness was completely gone. It's a blast to rip around with on groomers and more open terrain, and while it definitely requires some effort and decent technique in tighter terrain, it was surprisingly manageable. It's certainly not ultra-forgiving of poor technique and mistakes, but it's not ultra-punishing either.

Overall, spending time with the Bonafide 97 is just like any meaningful relationship: it'll need you to give consistent effort, attention, and will certainly require a bit of work, but if you're willing to do that it'll offer an extremely high level of support and stability in exchange.Our Take:
For nearly a decade, the Blizzard Bonafide has ruled the mountain. And when we say “ruled,” we are talking about Eminem around the turn of the millennium. Belichik on his way to six Super Bowl rings. Honnold scaling El Cap. Streep snagging Oscars. Skis may exist in a more niche corner of society (aka: the world of snow-loving weirdos), but we promise the Bonafides stack up with other exemplars of dominance. Now for 2020-2021, Blizzard has updated their design to feature a newly imagined wood core. They call it TrueBlend. With softer and lighter wood in the tips and tails and sturdier wood underfoot, TrueBlend evens the flex pattern of the skis to smooth out your ride and make the Bonafide 97 a little more accessible and intuitive in all types of snow. You bolster that design with two sheets of metal, and you get a strong and badass ski purpose-built to devour any type of snow anywhere on the mountain. Think of these updates as more refinement than alteration. This is still a ski for advanced skiers. So if you are more of a cruiser or intermediate type, take a close look at the Blizzard Rustler 9 or 10. Dominance is not built in a day, kind of like Rome. It takes cold, hard commitment...and a pair of Bonafides. Similar skis: Salomon Stance 96, Volkl Mantra M5, Nordica Enforcer 100.

Topsheets: Excellent condition with light superficial scratches on the topsheet surface and faint scuffing along the topsheet edges from being used approximately 10 days.
Bases: Bases are in very good condition with light scratching and a few deeper (but still minor) scratches. These skis are freshly tuned, waxed, and ready for snow.
