Most of my time on snow has been spent with forward-mounted, freestyle-oriented skis. The Blizzard Bonafide 97 is not that. It's actually the complete opposite of that. So, I was skeptical (read: doubtful) that the two of us would be compatible. Well, opposites attract, right? Our first few turns together were a bit awkward, but it was a me problem, and after a few runs of getting to know each other, that awkwardness was completely gone. It's a blast to rip around with on groomers and more open terrain, and while it definitely requires some effort and decent technique in tighter terrain, it was surprisingly manageable. It's certainly not ultra-forgiving of poor technique and mistakes, but it's not ultra-punishing either.

Overall, spending time with the Bonafide 97 is just like any meaningful relationship: it'll need you to give consistent effort, attention, and will certainly require a bit of work, but if you're willing to do that it'll offer an extremely high level of support and stability in exchange.

2024-2025 Blizzard Skis Preview

Blizzard Skis 2025: First Look An Anomaly. Fresh off an overhaul of its popular Rustler and Sheeva collections a year ago, Blizzard goes even bigger for the 2024-2025 season. After winters upon winters of following the adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," the brand is replacing the legendary skis in its all-mountain collection. The Brahma, Bonafide, and Cochise all go away. In their place? A new collection called Anomaly. The new skis, which will come as narrow as 84mm and as wide as 102mm, aim to offer the same top-end all-mountain performance as their ... Continue Reading

Our Take On The 2024 Blizzard Bonafide 97:

The iconic Blizzard Bonafide 97, long-praised for its masterful combination of technical performance and all-mountain versatility, is made to attack the mountain with grace and precision. From crushing through crud, to laying it down on hard pack, to navigating your way through untouched pow in the trees, they're the ultimate all-conditions daily driver for committed skiers. The TrueBlend Woodcore specifically targets the flex throughout the ski, with a softer tip and tail that keeps you nimble. Denser wood underfoot acts like a gas pedal, giving you the power and drive when you want to charge. Combined with a versatile sidecut and a reduced rocker profile, the Bonafide is the perfect blend of Austrian engineering and real-world testing that'll keep you skiing confidently, even on those less-than-perfect days.
