Any ski over the $1,000 mark simply HAS to prove itself, and rather than hit you with a "trust me, bro," I'll be the voice of this ski. "AR" stands for All-mountain Race. This ski is designed to go anywhere within reason on the resort, and be fast while it's there. Stockli's light version of their Solid Metal Edge combined with a lightweight core makes for some of the best carving control to ever exist while maintaining the ability to stay manageable at lower speeds when that pesky snowboarder cuts you off on the front side of Snowmass (I got permission from a snowboarder to say that). Adaptive Contact Length will be the only ACL you have to worry about when you're skiing the Montero, as the edge contact will vary based on the depth of your carve. Finally, the Flex Torsion Control makes pop and agility a surprising benefit of skiing these true to length. If I can leave you with one thought, let it be this: the Stockli Montero AR is one of the most fine-tuned skis currently on snow. I can only hope to own a pair one day, I'm just crossing my fingers that my dad set up a trust fund for me that I don't know about.

2024-2025 Stockli Skis Preview

Stockli Skis 2025: First Look Classic updates. Swiss-made Stockli skis hardly need an introduction. They're repeatedly some of our favorites for balancing skiability and performance. We're hard-pressed to find gear that rides as smooth and stable in all snow conditions, with a wide range of skill levels that can hop on the ski and have a good time (looking at you, Stormrider 95). This year, Stockli updated a few select products to further develop that skiability, without losing the Stockli performance we expect. We dive into the details in our Stockli skis 2025 preview. ... Our Take On The 2025 Stockli Montero AR:

The Stockli Montero AR is a perfect all-mountain piste ski for frontside skiers looking for versatility and premium performance. The long-turn specialist of the Montero series, the Stockli Montero AR is an all-arounder. For the 24/25 series, Stockli treated the Montero AR (and Montero AX) to an updated construction. The changes focus on the tips and tails—with their new tip and tail flex design. Two S-shaped notches at the front and back of the titanal sheet give the ski slightly more flex and more supple torsion. On snow, that means easier steering in and out of turns, and better control when you need to change direction. We found that to be most noticeable in off-trail terrain, where you might be navigating tighter bump lines. The ski feels more intuitive and less rigid in that kind of terrain, but back on trail, the ski rips just like you'd expect it would. Since the midfoot of the ski is still stiff and strong, you have plenty of ski to stand up on when laying down carves on groomed trails. Per usual, Stockli doesn't skimp on the suspension. The Montero AR has classic Stockli suspension: damp, smooth riding, and feels like a Cadilac on your feet.
