Take it from a big Pivot fan boy, the Strive 16's absolutely rock and have quickly sneaked their way in to becoming my favorite binding. The power transmission and suspension are bar none, you get a close to ski feel, the release is buttery smooth, the step in is solid and reassuring, there is lots of adjustment if you change boot sizes, and they come in some pretty rad colors! To get into more of the nitty gritty for the tech nerds out there that all comes from 47mm of elastic travel in the toe and 15mm in the heel, 30mm of overall BSL adjustment range, an MNC adjustable AFD, and a stack height of 21mm at the toe and 24.5mm at the heel paired with a low center of mass. Pretty impressive right?
So if you're looking for a high performance binding, keep the Strive 16's on your radar.

Powder7 Staff Pick Tyler J

The Salomon Strive 16 is hands down my favorite alpine binding. I have a pair mounted to my big mountain powder skis and they feel really great to ride: damp, great suspension , great retention and release, low stack height, low weight, pretty much everything I want in an alpine binding. The ski feel that I get from the low stack height leaves me feeling more connected to the ski than other bindings filling this same niche and I appreciate the responsiveness when I'm skiing big, high consequence lines. Truth be told, if you haven't been on lots of different alpine bindings, you may not notice many of the differences, but you can take my word for it: these will do the job, whatever that job happens to be.

The Salomon Strive 16 feels a bit like the STH2 16 and Shift 13 had a child, which in my opinion makes for pretty good genetics. I'm a big fan of both of those bindings, so "combining" them was all I needed to rationalize another binding (and ski...) purchase. I can sometimes struggle to notice on-snow differences between bindings with so many other variables to contend with, but the Strive 16 has just felt impressively smooth and responsive so far. The fact it felt noticeable at all is high praise for the binding in my opinion. The step-in is easy and confidence-inspiring, and it's nice to have a binding that shaves a bit of weight off from my normal STH2s. I tossed a pair of these onto my Bent Chetler 120s, and have been stoked on them so far! It's easier to step into in powder than a Pivot, lighter than an STH2, and has more elasticity than a Griffon and Attack. That makes it an easy choice for me, especially for my wider/powder skis.

Our Take:

Whether it’s all-mountain, freeride or freestyle skiing, the Atomic Strive 16 MN delivers a super stable platform that excels in every situation and snow condition. The low center of gravity of the LDN Toe places the binding closer to the ski for better next-to-snow feel, more direct response and quicker reaction throughout the turn. The slightly ramped chassis positions the skier in a more neutral stance while preserving the natural flex and arc of the ski. A widebody, 3-Part Metal Heel offers a robust connection for extreme durability, strong retention, and stability. Multi Norm certified, this binding works with all ISO norm ski boot soles – DIN, Touring and Walk To Ride (WTR). The Manual Toe Height Adjustment makes for switching between different boot norms quick and easy. The binding of choice for the Atomic Freeski team and pros like Chris Benchetler, Jossi Wells, and Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Strive 16 MN allows you to ski exactly the way you want, wherever you want.

Features:

  • - DIN Range 6-16
  • - LDN Toe
  • - Low Profile Chassis
