The Stance 102, Salomon's unique take on the ~100mm directional freeride ski, returns with a slight update for the 2024 season, including an updated metal shape in the tip and lighter wood core. Widest in the Stance collection, the Stance 102 fuses freeride flavor with crud-busting power. In human form, the Stance 102 would be that goofy, fun-loving buddy with windswept hair who sweats through his hibiscus-print shirt on the dancefloor before unbuttoning it to reveal that he's absolutely shredded. How on Earth does that apply to a ski? Let us explain. Like its little bros, the 90 and 96, the Stance 102 is built with one full sheet of metal under a second sheet with strategically placed cutouts. In those cutouts, light-but-strong carbon and flax keep the skis in the middleweight class. That's the muscle part. As for the party part, the Stance 102 features deeper rocker than those other two skis along with more tail rise. This means that while the skis rail carves and blast through mixed snow, they also can be smeared and slashed in the soft stuff (hence the dancefloor analogy). It's a dynamite combination if you like to ski fast and loose all over the mountain "just like it's a dynamite combination in a human." So think of that yahoo you call a friend and be honest about how you envy him. Then multiply that uncomfortable feeling by the number of days you ski each year. You've projected how you'll feel if you do NOT ski the Stance 102 this year. Time to get down! Similar skis: Fischer Ranger 102, Blizzard Rustler 10, Nordica Enforcer 104 Free.
