While it may not be specifically designed for it, the Ripstick remains nimble and easy to maneuver, making it a great choice for teaching kids how to navigate greens and blues. When they tire out, it shifts gears, offering stability and aggression for hard charging in big mountain terrain. The Ripstick's balance between maneuverability and carving ability makes it a standout option for a one-ski quiver. Its long effective edge ensures solid carving on groomers, while the deeper rocker in the tips adds versatility. While its softer, more playful build may not be burly enough for heavier or more aggressive skiers seeking a hard-stomping freestyle ski, it still holds its own against models like the Sender Free 110 or Revolt 114.

I've used these at Loveland along with some of the larger resorts (Beaver Creek, Vail, etc..) and they are awesome wherever you take them. Two years ago we told you that if James Bond owned a ski, the Ripstick 96 Black Edition would be the one he would ride. Well, after not offering a Black Edition of the Ripstick for the 2020-21 season, it thankfully returns for 2022, with new technology and upgrades as any great spy tool would have. A tactical freeride ski, the Black Edition takes Elan's Amphibio design even further with Amphibio Carbon Line Technology, which inlays Vapor Tip Inserts at the tip with a mesh carbon weave reinforcement along the inside edges of both skis to considerably improve edge hold, dampness, and energy over the previous Black Edition skis. Combine that with the all-new QuadRod technology, which inserts two additional carbon rods into the middle of the ski compared to the normal Ripstick to add smoothness, grip, and increased power. At 96mm underfoot, it's also the best in the lineup in terms of balancing carvability with soft snow prowess. James Bond doesn't make tradeoffs with his gadgets, and neither does Elan; while the ski has become stronger and more stable, it hasn't lost its typical balance of quickness and maneuverability. Get a Ripstick Black Edition and be like Bond... James Bond.
