I love this binding for long tours. I mean I really love it. I usually tend towards hybrid bindings like the Duke because of my skiing style and my reluctance to relegate any ski to purely backcountry or resort use, but taking this on some long early-season tours has made me understand the appeal of pin binding: this was easy to transition to downhill mode, easy to step into, and skied well for being so light. I had one notable major wipeout while I was on these guys and was impressed with the functionality of the binding release. Also, I have a psychotic friend who put these on the Faction Le Mono Split, so apparently they will hold you even when you are trying to rip a mono-ski down Tuckerman's Ravine.

    Our Take:

The Rotation series is the next step in the evolution of Dynafit's Radical 2.0 binding system. Burly enough to be your daily driver, but still light enough for long days deep in the backcountry, the 625g Rotation 12 replaces the FT 2.0 as Dynafit's all-around champion for serious winter touring. The patented Rotation toe has been improved with a hub centering system for effortless entry into the binding, while switching from uphill to downhill mode is accomplished with a quick spin of the heel turret. The only difference between the Rotation 10 and 12 is the DIN range (4-10 versus 5-12, respectively), and a little bit of weight (the Rotation 12 comes in 26g heavier due to some carbon reinforcement). In either form, this is Dynafit's flagship binding--and it has the awards to prove it.

    Features:

    • - Weight: 625g
    • - Materials: Forged Aluminum, Chromoly, High Tech Syntetic
    • - Carbon Reinforced
    • - Rotation Toe with Hub Centering
    • - Step In Side Towers: for quick entry and side impact resistance
    • - Bayonet Lock
    • - Easy Lock Brake System
    • - Forward Pressure: 10mm
    • - Adjustable length +/- 22.5mm
    • - Field of use: Ski Touring
