I reach for this ski most often on powder days, inbounds or out. The Armada ARV 116 JJ UL is exactly what I want my powder ski to be: mindlessly floaty, supportive on drops that I normally avoid, and wicked fun. I don't need my skis to be too much work on the deepest days I only get in my dreams. I need them to be too much fun. This ski, my friends, is too much fun. At the same time, it remains plenty stable for skiing through the choppy stuff at the end of the day. If you are a playful skier shopping for a powder ski, this is a must have in the quiver.

Our Take On The 2026 Armada ARV 116 JJ UL:

It's been a household name for some years now, and explains why this hasn't been updated in the Armada line for as long as this gear writer can remember. The Armada ARV 116 JJ UL is a lightweight powder ski optimized for quick turns, easy float, and the best maneuverability in deep snow. It's an ideal powder ski for a variety of skiers--from first time powder ski buyers to experienced backcountry tourers. It's a light, flickable ski that's perfect for deep snow conditions or backcountry skiing. The smear tech at the tip and tail keep the ends of the ski highly maneuverable in deep snow. It also adds drift and pivot to the ski, making it a blast for playful skiers. Softer tips make for easy turn initiation and a bit of play, but this ski is no noodle. You have enough power underfoot and at the tail to stomp landings and keep the ski tracking well through chopped snow. All in all, a ski for the dreams.
