The Volkl Revolt 101 is the freshest all-mountain ski to hit ski walls this season. In this humble gear nerd's opinion, the Revolt 101 encapsulates the two flavors of Volkl's lineup. On one side, you have the hard-charging, directional, metal Mantras that slice up hard snow and push through crud like nobody's business. On the other, you have the freestylin', loose, and straight-up fun Revolt series. Volkl asks, "por que no los dos?" The Volkl Revolt 101 balances high performance for all-mountain conditions and higher speeds along with being an intuitive ride. It's loose and drifty when you need it to be, but on edge, that ski can lock in for a big turn. It feels remarkably supportive underfoot when getting a solid edge angle in. But in bumps and trees, you feel like you can intuitively release the tails. On the inside, the masterfully layered multiwood core puts strength where you need it, and a bit more pop and play where you want it. At high speeds, the ski feels more planted than it has any right to without any metal in it. It's a perfect addition to Volkl's lineup, and slots right into the highly sought after "playful charger" scene.
