2024-2025 Volkl M7 Mantra Review

Lucky Number 7. To be the 7th generation of something is some special business. The Mantra fully deserves this legacy, considering its best-selling status and name recognition around the world. For this iteration of the Mantra, Volkl went to the R&D department and told them to double down on the features that set the Mantra apart in this crowded all-mountain ski scene. While the changes aren't "overhaul" status, this is certainly a different ski on snow. Dive into our Volkl M7 Mantra Review for all the nitty gritty details, and how these bad boys perform on snow. Our Take On The 2025 Volkl M7 Mantra:

You know the Mantra. It's been around the block for almost two decades now. Though it's seen some changes, the Mantra's been some form of red and black, ~95mm underfoot, and an all-mountain crusher. And believe it or not, but it's time for the 7th generation of Mantras. The Volkl M7 Mantra is a strong, directional all-mountain ski that's stiff, stable, and ready to charge around the mountain. It's the Mantra you know, but better. When we heard about the new ski, us ski nerds were a little skeptical of how different it would feel on snow, but it's safe to say these updates make the M7 our favorite Mantra in recent history.

So what's new this season? Volkl updates their 3D Sidecut radius and adds "4 Radius Drive". Entering the fourth dimension (to be honest, we didn't even realize there were that many), this new sidecut design tightens the radius at the very tip of the ski. On snow, that translates to linking turns more smoothly and keeps the tip more precise once you've locked into a turn. Volkl also updated the carbon tailoring in the tips, to consolidate the material and keep the tip damp, and tweaked the titanal frame for a more balanced flex. All things combined, the ski feels more precise through the tip and a smoother, rounder flex (that's still plenty stiff) through the whole ski. We found the new M7 Mantra to be one of the best in class for supporting even the chargiest of ski styles. But the ability to play with turn shapes, find maneuverability in tight terrain, keep things fun at slower speeds, or let you really gas things up in a stable and damp platform is what makes the M7 Mantra unique. If precision, stability, and a smooth ride are all at the top of your list--whether at high speeds or slow speeds--we think the Volkl M7 Mantra is well worth an upgrade.
