Legend has it that "once you go Stockli you never go back" and that sentiment rings true for the Stormrider 88. You'll be feeling smooth and confident as you lay down turns. This ski can handle all the conditions you throw at it- from ice to crud to slush, but it truly shines with those bluebird courdoroy conditions. While it skis with the dampness and stability of a true carver, it is still light enough to remain approachable for those of us who don't *yet* have bulletproof quads. I usually tend toward a wider underfoot ski for my daily driver, but the snappy, responsive, smooth ride of the Stockli Stormrider is making me wonder if I may join the Stockli crew.. and maybe I'll never go back..

They say you shouldn’t trust everything you read online (yes, I’m aware of the irony as you’re reading an online review right now), but in the case of the Stockli Stormrider 88, the hype is definitely deserved.

Stockli has long been known for making high-quality skis that perform exceptionally well on hardpack, and the SR 88 lives up to that reputation. Despite that dope metal top sheet, the SR 88 isn’t some overly cumbersome ski that demands the strength and skill of a former World Cup racer to handle.

Thanks to Stockli’s Lightweight Woodcore, the Stormrider 88 weighs in at a manageable 1700 grams, making it light enough to confidently navigate zipper lines and get people at the bottom cheering.

For skiers looking for a dedicated carving and mogul-slaying ski for early and late season, or those who spend most of their time on firm snow, the SR 88 is the perfect addition to your quiver.

Every year I threaten to buy an 88mm ski to add some versatility to my basic Colorado boy quiver of freeride sticks. I still haven't done it because I'm all talk...but that does make me a weird non-committal connoisseur of 88-waisted skis. And dang...the Stormrider 88 is probably the best one out there. It's jam-packed with energy, stable, and not as bulky as you think when you imagine an aggressive metal ski. Actually, it feels light and intuitive and just friggin awesome. One of my all-time faves for ripping bumps like a maniac.

Our Take:

The Swiss-made Stockli Stormrider 88 is one of the best all-mountain skis in the world. When we say that, we know different people hold strong opinions on what makes a ski a good “all-mountain” option. That phrase is one of the buzziest terms in the industry! Case in point: While plenty of frontside skiers say 88mm is too wide for an “all-mountain” ski, a slew of other skiers say it’s barely wide enough. The reason we love the Stormrider 88 is that it makes both of those crowds happy. It’s lively and full of energy while also maintaining chunder-proof stability. Stockli tweaked the ski in the 23/24 season to lower the swingweight, without losing any power. That means you get fresher legs for a full day of ripping on the slopes. Don't worry: the changes didn't mean it lost any power. You still get titanal in the ski and the shiny titanal topsheet. It also makes you look like a superhero.
