This redesigned Griffon from 2021 and newer has emerged as a go-to binding for me. The Griffon has always been a dependable performer once your boot was locked in but old versions were a bit tricky to get the heel into, demanding alot of force to click in. This always made me hesitant to mount the old (pre 2021) Griffon on my skis. But in 2021 Marker redesigned the Griffon heel with that feedback in mind and now I find it to be one of the easiest bindings to get into and it has a nice lock down heel snap that inspires confidence that you're locked in and ready to ski hard. I haven't had any trouble ever getting into the new Griffon heel whether in deep powder or in a dicey situation at the top of a slick wind buffeted peak. Everything about this binding reeks of confidence inspiring burliness like a nice wide toe box plus the aforementioned heel lock down so I wouldn't hesitate to send big lines in this binding. Another huge plus of the Griffon is the SoldID which means that you don't have to adjust the toe height when switching from a GripWalk sole to a standard old boot sole. This can be a huge plus if you switch between boots at all. All in all this is a binding that I would definitely recommend to friends and that I'll continue riding.

Our Take:

The classic Marker Griffon 13 is featured on "best ski bindings" lists and found on skiers' sticks everywhere, and for good reason. Marker's tried and true design is durable, reliable, and skis strong as a weightlifter after drinking a double espresso. Their Triple Pivot Elite toe uses a horizontally oriented spring to maximize power transfer from your boot to the ski. The low-profile metal gliding AFD keeps the stand height low, providing a more in-tune ride. The adjustable toe height accommodates any boot sole norm. Marker has also included an anti-ice rail on the toe piece to help keep your boot soles free from snow, letting you click in easier to the ski and ensuring a solid lock every time. Marker's Inter Pivot Heel uses a vertical spring that helps provide gobs of elastic travel and power transfer and is easier to step into than Marker Griffons of years past. Proving why it is one of the biggest names in the business, Marker delivers the performance you can trust. They are your ski bindings, after all.
