By: AlexI love this ski! Many moons ago, I owned an old Volkl Kenja back from 2015, which was not a friendly ski for a budding intermediate. Ever since then, I was a little cautious about the Kendo/Kenja family. I decided to humor myself and hop on an updated Kendo recently, and boy did it teach me a lesson about judging old skis!! It's definitely on the stiff side of things (that titanal frame doesn't joke around), but where my old Kenjas just wanted to take big turns all the time, that 3D Sidecut Radius gives you the flexibility to whip tight, slalom-y turns, or rip long, arcing turns. The Kendo was the perfect ski to play around on at the end of a long demo day at Loveland. The groomers were either soft on the edges, or completely scrapped off, and the Kendo stayed smooth through it all.Our Take:
The Kendo 88 is back and remains at the top of our list for frontside oriented all-mountain skis. Last year, Volkl introduced its Tailored Carbon Tip technology into the Mantra M6, and this year they expanded that tech to more skis in the collection, including the Kendo 88. Marked by its spider-web appearance, these carbon tips tailor the stiffness and torsional strength of every model to seamlessly match the terrain and skiing style it's built for. The carbon in the Kendo, for instance, extends further into the body of the ski from the tips down than something like the Mantra 102, to prioritize more frontside prowess and stability. The tailored carbon pairs with tailored titanal to optimize the skis for skiers in every size. So, the 163cm will have less metal than the 184cm, tailoring the smaller sizes to smaller skiers. The bottom line? You get precise performance depending on what you need and where you need it. According to one Volkl rep: "The skis still reward aggression, but they don't require it." In other words, drive this ski as hard as you want, but don't get punished if you don't have perfect technique all the time. Sounds good to us. Similar skis: Stockli Stormrider 88, Nordica Enforcer 88, Blizzard Brahma 88.

Topsheets: Excellent condition with light superficial scratches on the topsheet surface and faint scuffing along the topsheet edges from being used approximately 10 days.
Bases: Bases are in excellent condition with light scratching. These skis are freshly tuned, waxed, and ready for snow.
Bindings: This is a fixed binding. These bindings are mounted to a BSL range of approximately 326mm-300mm. Bindings can be remounted to fit any boot size.
