This Ski Is A Staff Favorite:

The forecast? 0 inches for the next 24 hours. The reality? Nonstop, fluffy snowflakes all day. Almost impossible to follow my tracks from my previous run it was snowing so hard. By the time I left the resort, there was about 6 inches of fresh snow that wasn't there when I arrived. The skis of choice that day? ZX100. This was the first time I'd skied it. I figured I'd try it on some crusty stuff, because that's what Kastle does well. Edges. Carves. But how would this Kastle perform on fluff, through steep glades where if I caught an edge I'd catch a tree trunk to the face?
The answer: I just bought this ski from Kastle's factory today.
I skied that unexpected pow day with a group I'd never met before, so I was nervous. Rather than stop with the group in the middle of a mogul field, I yelled, "hey guys, watch this!" and cut a mogul in half and popped up into the air for a safety grab. That got some woots, so I cut another bump and hit the group with the biggest, most obnoxious Spread-Eagle I've done to date. After a round of cheers from the lift above and my new friends below, I decided to buy this ski. If you're a freeriding, tree-loving person don't rule out this beast of a ski. If you're a frontside-hugging, back-bowl dabbler, don't rule out this ski. It'll slash. It'll carve. It'll fly.

The Kastle ZX100 is a strong ski and one of my favorites. This stiff ski will hold steady in icy conditions and can rip down groomers if you let it. I also found that it wasn't too difficult to maneuver through light trees and bumps, but I definitely had the most fun pushing into huge carves on wide-open bowls.

Our Take:

The Kastle ZX100 takes away any reasons avid all-mountain skiers had for not skiing on Kastles. Born, like all Kastles, of race-room sensibilities and premium materials, the ZX100 promises quality, speed, and durability. Unlike longer-tenured Kastle models, namely the MX and FX, the ZX series comes in at lower price points with more freeride, fun-loving flavor. This is an all-mountain ski that wants to slice and dice tree alleys, flow through mogul lines and back bowls, and huck airs just as bad as it wants to rip groomed runs. The same can be said of the new FX skis, sure, but if you don’t care about metal and want to save a few bucks without compromising versatility, or if you just prefer a more playful feel, the ZX100 is the way to go. Did we mention versatility? Well, these skis appeal equally to the strong dad skier who wants a bit more of a forgiving ride than he got with those stout 200cm skis as they do to his Snapchat-wielding son. A strong choice for stoked intermediate skiers and experts alike, the Kastle ZX100 quickly rose the ranks to be one of the skis thrown in the car on the way to the hill, no matter the conditions.
