In Bariloche, Argentina, we start with 17-ounce tenderloin cuts—bife de lomo—and a bottle of Malbec. "Anywhere in the States, this is $60 steak," Owen says. But we're in South America.
We "ball out," and dinner costs each of us around $30. Our next vintage Argentina moment? Hiking through mud, slush, bamboo and rain from the parking lot at the Cerro Catedral ski resort to Refugio Frey, a hut in the Bariloche backcountry.
Contrast two and a half hours of trudging through lenga forest with the winter scene when we ultimately reach the hut and you fully appreciate Patagonia's different biomes. POW. It's frozen snow crystals flying around you, floating you through Winter Wonderland. It makes your dreams vibrate. It drains your wallet in the name of bliss. And it's also a vital acronym: Protect Our Winters.
POW lives at the center of our lives as skiers.
So, fittingly, we introduce the custom Powder7 Nomad 105 Lite, a collaboration between Powder7 and Protect Our Winters (POW), the Boulder-based climate advocacy group that has garnered international attention mobilizing snow-lovers to a higher cause.
Built by Icelantic, our limited edition Nomad is a perfect do-everything ski for big Colorado mountains--and $150 from the sale of each pair will be donated to POW. Click here to see the full specs of our first custom Powder7 ski.

2019 Icelantic Nomad 105 Lite Description:
Like the Nomad 105, but lighter! With a successful debut season, the Nomad Lite is back for the winter of 2019 unchanged--except for new artwork, of course. Made from an ochroma wood core, the ski is significantly lighter than its poplar counterpart making it ideal for longer uphill endeavours. The almost symmetrical profile makes for a playful ride, so your skiing style doesn't have to take a backseat in the backcountry. Powder7 staffers recommend mounting with a Marker Kingpin or any Dynafit tech binding to keep the setup light. It doesn't matter if you are the occasional backcountry skier, or a full on enthusiast, the Nomad 105 Lite is stealing hearts and making turns all over the country.
