Big news this season from Icelantic: the famed Maiden and Nomad skis are rebuilt! The theme? "Into the West." The new skis initially made us think of some of our favorite Western things. Turquoise bolo ties. Westworld Season 1. Fiddle-rich hoedowns. Stetsons. Back to the Future 3. Tombstone (Remember "I'm your huckleberry"?). Then we skied the Maiden 102, and we realized we need to make room on that list for Icelantic's newest project. With more liveliness, a lighter swing weight, and added versatility, these skis are some of Icey's finest. Like, ever. The new shape and construction bring the refresh we didn't know we needed, and they place the Maiden 102 smack in the middle of the debate over most fun all-mountain/freeride ski of the year. These skis are still as user-friendly as they've always been, so intermediate skiers will still be stoked. Their added versatility and playfulness make them stand out in a way that a surprisingly small number of skis manage to do these days. We love these as daily drivers in the West (duh) or anywhere you enjoy hunting soft snow. So go ahead: Skin that smokewagon.
