Fitting smack in the middle of the big-mountain category, the Head Kore 112 Ti is offering an alternative to the often playful freeride scene. With a directional shape, some heavier materials, the new Kore series is offering directional, fall-line skiers with a platform that can really support aggressive skiing, without the planky-ness of a ski this size loaded up with heavy metal. The Kore 112 Ti does have two layers of titanal in it (as the name would suggest), but Head took great care to give the ski a progressive tip shape and flex. This helps keep turn initiation smooth and help give a bit of suspension up front. When a ski (especially this wide) is filled from tip to tail with heavy metal, there's can be a real rigidity and planky sensation. The wizards at Head managed to smooth this out, giving you power underfoot to drive through choppy snow and stay stable, while also having an intuitive shape that is, well, fun to turn. Sometimes it's not much more deep than that. We love the Head Kore 112 Ti for fall-line skiers who love a solid and precise platform, even on their big-mountain set-ups.
