This ski, my friends, is a good and true ski. To be honest, I've never been let down by a Black Crows model--but the Anima exceeded my unreasonable expectations. It's unbelievable in deep stuff. What surprised me, though, was its versatility. In variable snow the day after a storm, and even on the frontside of the mountain, the Anima handles like a skinnier ski. Full disclosure: I've gone both heli-skiing and cat-skiing this winter (because I'm a fancy businessman), and the Anima came with me each time. I don't mess around on those trips, so I'm bringing a ski I have no doubts about. That ski is the Anima.

Our Take On The 2025 Black Crows Anima:

The Black Crows Anima is the Chamonix brand's big-mountain charging, pow-stash slaying, best-day-making powder ski. Returning unchanged for 2024, the Anima has quickly become a shop favorite. Over the years, the wild Frenchmen and women tweaked the ski to make it better than ever...and that's saying a lot. They lengthened the tails (think less rocker), extended the side lines, enlarged the tips, and refined the Animas flex. The goal? More reliable and consistent performance in hard and mixed snow plus a smoother feel everywhere. Like so many French things, this new Anima is refined. It's chic. And it soars whether you're heli skiing in British Columbia, rampaging in Chamonix, getting pitted in Japan, or dropping Corbets in Jackson. While athletic and motivated intermediates can absolutely handle the Anima, it is worth noting that these skis flex stiffer than many playful powder skis out there. We wouldn't call them expert skis exclusively, but they do like to be driven. So if you want a ski you can count on for the best days of your season, reach for the Anima.
