Helmets are worn by most skiers today and are a great way to increase safety on the slopes while also staying warm and comfortable. Nearly all of us at the shop find our helmet so warm and comfy that we prefer to wear it.
Getting the right fit is the most important thing. Don't go by whether you think your head is a size but instead, measure it, and go by the manufacturers sizing based on that measurement. A helmet that is too loose won't provide much safety and one too tight will leave you with a headache.
Some helmets have MIPS technology which is designed to decrease the likelihood of a concussion.
Other features include adjustable vents, BOA fit adjustment. Audio speakers that go in ear flaps is often an available add on item.
Helmets and goggles fit very well together these days, even between different brands although if you want to guarantee a great fit then it's a good idea to buy them from the same brand.
