2020 Volkl Skis Preview

Innovation is the Mantra In 2019, the completely redesigned M5 Mantra hit the hill hard. Featuring Volkl's innovative Titanal Frame, the M5 was livelier, lighter, and zippier than a YKK. It took off with advanced and expert skiers alike, so for 2020, Volkl will double down on their Titanal Frame construction. This year, Volkl has completely reimagined their freeride line: check out 2020 Volkl Skis. 2020 Volkl Skis Highlights: The M5 Mantra returns untouched - but now we have the Mantra 102, a big brother to the M5. With a fatter 102mm waist, these boards are built to rip big lines. Big lines = longer turns, so Volkl gave the Mantra 102 a 3D Radius Sidecut, lending to a variety of turn shapes. The tight center turn radius provides agility and quickness, while the long ... Continue Reading

The Best Women's All Mountain Skis of 2019

When the time arrives to buy new boards, most skiers are searching for one do-it-all ski.  All mountain planks that can hold an edge on hardpack, yet surf on deep snow when conditions are prime. Volkl Secret: The Ultimate Women's All-Mountain Ski

The Volkl Secret has edge, and it's soon to be the buzz among women's skis. Volkl calls it their most versatile ski ever, integrating freeride shape and powerful edges for unparalleled performance. The Secret is brand new for Volkl's 2019 lineup, the women's version of the newly redesigned men's Mantra M5. Now in its fifth generation, the Mantra has garnered a loyal following even through its revisions, like its earlier sister the Aura.   The 2019 Volkl Secret Although the Secret shares DNA with the Aura, it has been reinvented as a more versatile all-mountain carving tool. Volkl made three radical changes that set it above its ol' Auntie Aura: Camber underfoot:  The Secret has camber underfoot and rocker in the tips and tails, unlike the fully-rockered Aura. This ... Continue Reading

2019 Volkl Secret Description:

The Volkl Secret's performance took Powder7 testers by storm at our on snow demos this season. Taking design inspiration from the revamped M5 Mantra the Secret is a ladies specific tool designed for hard chargers. The titanal frame and carbon tips provide a remarkably damp ride that is unflinching at warp speeds. The ski is also more nimble than it has any right to be because of the carbon tip inserts and Volkl's tip and tail rocker. While the ski is certainly oriented towards the stiffer end of the spectrum it was still a hit among testers who lauded it's intuitive sidecut and confidence inspiring ride. The only fault in the ski is its ironic name, because this ski and its performance will be the farthest thing from a secret when skiers start riding it this fall.
