Volkl Katana 108 Skis

This Ski Is A Staff Favorite:

Die hard Volkl fans will remember the Katanas from the past, but what we have here is a totally revamped model that is sure to bring a smile to your frozen face. The last iteration of the Katana was a fully reverse camber, 2 full metal sheet, 112mm underfoot ski, making it a pretty powder specific big mountain charger. The new Katana being 108 underfoot, having camber, and not quite as much metal, make it the perfect every day ski for a western big mountain skier! Don't get me wrong it is still an expert level ski but it is actually quite easy to initiate and exit turns. With my larger stature these days (5'11" 230lbs) I really appreciated the metal, making groomer turns precise and smooth since my test day on these skis was not exactly fresh. The skis seem to effortless flow from side to side but when you want to lock it in and arch a big turn, the ski is going to hold you no matter what the speed. I am sure in some fresh snow the skis would be just as much fun. I might be hesitant at first to go ripping through trees at 50 mph at first but can't wait to put some more time in on this revamped classic!

Our Take On The 2024 Volkl Katana 108:

More than a decade after the original Volkl Katana redefined big-mountain charging, the revamped Volkl Katana 108 entered the scene to show core skiers that the industry hasn't forgotten them. Back for 2023-2024 with fresh graphics, the Volkl Katana 108 skis like it's on a mission. It is one of the heaviest and least rockered skis around 108mm underfoot and features less taper than most comparable skis in the industry. While casual skiers just clicked away from this page upon reading that, fans of the OG Katana--and aggressive, directional freeride skiers in general--are screaming, "Tell me more!" So here it is. Unlike the original Katana, this new iteration does feature a few of Volkl's quintessential design flourishes. Titanal Frame construction gives you metal where you need it without overburdening the ski. Meanwhile, 3D Radius sidecut helps you make turns of all shapes and sizes at all speeds. These updates make the new Katana 108 a bit more accessible than the previous version, and it matches the Volkl Confession that it replaced in being surprisingly versatile. Rather than water the ski down, these updates give you a refined and intuitive ride. We recommend these skis for ex-racers turned freeriders and advanced-expert skiers who refuse to compromise when they attack big terrain.
