Our Take:
You might not have heard much about Stereo Skis out of Norway, but don't worry: you will soon. Norwegians basically invented skiing, and they take that winter sports heritage seriously. Since 2008, Stereo has been building premium, high performance skis in a production process that's 100% powered by renewable energy. And now they're ready to make their mark in North America.
The Piste V3 from Stereo is probably the best representation of the brand's Norwegian roots: it's precise, energetic, fun, and likes to go downhill very fast. Two sheets of titanal reinforce a stout beech-and-poplar wood core for stability and rebound even at teeth-chattering speeds. The Piste V3's damp feel is courtesy of some vulcanized rubber under the hood, which helps smooth out any twitchy vibrations. A bit of rocker up at the tip gets you into your turns with maximum quickness, assisted by a (roughly) 88mm waist width that transitions from edge-to-edge in a flash. For on-piste rippers who want something more fun and playful than a beer league race ski, but don't want to sacrifice any carving performance in the process, the versatile, impressive Stereo Piste V3 is worth adding to the quiver.
