Read all of our Salomon QST 106 staff reviewsThe 2026 QST 106 bring a damper, more performative, all mountain machine. Bringing the basalt stringers from the very tip tip to tail in addition to a horse shoe shape cork layer allows for more effective shock absorption. While the QST's have notoriously been known for their maneuverability and playfulness, this new build stuck to it's roots but with more aggression for those of you who want to charge a little harder. This is a must get on for those all mountain skiers who search for the more fun and technical terrain but also love a good day of corduroy.
By: GeorgeBeing one of the fan favorites of the QST lineup, the 2023 model of the QST 106 is one burly, maneuverable, stomping mid-width freestyle ski. Those of you who are looking for a one quiver ski that can do it all (mostly), the 106 would be a great option. The QST lineup have notoriously struggled with carving due to its big turning radius and tendency to chatter at speed while on groomers. If you are an off piste skier and that is all you like, that is what the QST was made for.
By: GeorgeIf I had one word (ok, a few words), to describe the new QST 106's, they'd be intuitive, reliable, and a great balance of playful and powerful. This ski has the capability to pivot easily in trees and bumps, while still remaining stable enough to rip over chopped up, cruddy snow towards the end of the day. I am convinced that with those colorful bases, the skis want you to spend time in the air (to show them off, of course), and have a great landing platform. I'd recommend sizing up a bit with them, as they have a solid dose of rocker (I'm 5'7",140 lbs and liked skiing them better in the 173cm size). Overall, the new QST has something for everyone, and really nails the balance of being playful, but still damp and carvable.

Over the years, the Salomon QST 106 has consistently been a shop favoite as a versatile, soft snow oriented ski, that can easily handle deep powder and all the stuff inbetween. After the latest iteration, we never thought the ski needed another upgrade. Clearly, Salomon disagreed. For 2023, Salomon applies the stellar construction updates from the QST 98 and QST Blank from 2022 to the new QST 106. Our initial impressions? Obsessed. With deeper rocker lines and more tapered tips and tails, this ski feels more playful and easier to manuver in tight places, powder, and steep lines. Salomon's C/FX construction, a blend of carbon and flax to help increase downhill performance, ensures you can still rail down your line despite a more playful shape. Cork damplifiers still stick around to dampen the tips, preventing chatter and weird vibrations. To top it all off, new double sidewall technology enhances edge hold and acts as suspension to absorb all the inconsistencies in snow to smooth out the ride. The result? The new QST 106 stays smooth through powder, soft chop, icy patches, and weird wind buff without a flinch. All while being light enough to take on a long tour or hike up a big line. For playful skiers looking for a supportive ski to handle aggressive skiing, or even more casual skiers looking for a fun ski in soft snow, the new 106 should be at the top of your list. Salomon got us this time, sometimes good things can use a change.
