New for this season, the Rossignol Rallybird Soul 102 shakes up the women's all-mountain ski market. Smooth riding, damp and plush on choppy snow, and with a versatile shape and flex, the Rallybird appeals to a wide range of lady skiers. Rossignol set out to bring back the flavor of the popular legend: the Soul 7. Instead of rehashing an old favorite, they took the versatile and smooth riding shape, blending it with modern construction technologies we love so much. The refined AirTec keeps the swing weight low for easy turn initiation and quick reactions in tight terrain. A partial sheet of metal underfoot gives power and support where you need it, but doesn't feel heavy or sluggish. The dampening agents and other cocktail ingredients provide a supremely planted ride that we've come to expect from Rossi. The shape is modern, with a nice tip and tail taper, solid rocker up front, and a healthy splash in the rear. It's easy to release in bumps and trees but holds an edge surprisingly well for its size and shape. It's easy to flex into and engage but doesn't have a speed limit. It's damp and planted but offers the perfect amount of pop and snap when you come out of a turn. We ski a lot of skis, and it's not often a single ski gives all of us a big grin while riding it.
