It’s in stark contrast from the clear roads and calm weather on the drive up; the road is snow covered and the wind is smothering any semblance of previous vehicle tracks. Visibility is marginal at best but you keep telling yourself that you just need to make it to Silverthorne and the worst will be behind you. In the rearview mirror, you see an ominous cloud of snow; you can’t quite make out what it is. White-knuckled on the steering wheel, you keep glancing back; you see headlights. You look forward; blowing snow. You glance back; it’s only a couple hundred feet behind you now. Eyes forward; white void. Again, you start to look towards the rearview mirror but your eyes are drawn to your left as a green 2000 Subaru Outback Limited Wagon drives past you as if you were standing still. The Nordica Unleashed 108 is a ski for skiers spending most of their time searching for the soft stuff and making the mountain their playground. A single sheet of terrain specific metal serves multiple purposes by providing a damp and smooth ride, supporting you on those steep drops, and giving the ski a bit of energy and pop, all while keeping specific zones a little softer and more flexible. Armed with a big early rise in the tip and tail, the Unleashed 108 is easy to whip around and quick to get on top of the snow on a deep day. A tight tree line with some variable snow? No worries. A steep line with a bonus cliff drop at the bottom? Sounds great. Chasing friends through a bump field? Whoop and holler away. If you are looking for a wide daily driver that can handle any terrain you take it down, and ski it in style, the Nordica Unleashed 108 might just be the one for you.
