By: JacksonA fantastic blend between the stability that Blizzard is known for and the modern flair of everyones favorite freeride ski. The rocker at the tip and tail provide a fantastic platform for boosting side hits and ridiculous cliff drops that will make you book a massage. Even with a full edge, the ski has a very low swing weight. This makes skiing tighter and more challenging terrain a breeze. Powder day? The 108 underfoot and 139 at the tip makes the ski float like a dream. I could not have been more stoked to get a nice soft A Basin day on this ski. But later in the day when the sun receded slightly and things firmed up, the ski still performed phenomenal on edge and I was really able to lay out my turns without any trouble. I never wished the ski did any specific thing better. An absolutely phenomenal ski that will have you smiling cheek to cheek.Our Take:
Riding a steam-powered hype train, the brand new Blizzard Canvas 108 is the first 2026-2027 ski to land on our shelves. Whether you say "Blizzerd" or "BlizzAHrd," it's a big deal. Why? Well to this point, the ski wizards in Mittersill, Austria haven't exactly built their legacy on making skis with zhuzh. Icons like the Brahma and Bonafide were Holy Grails for technical skiers and literally all Europeans outside Chamonix. But they weren't, like, fun. Now, though, times have changed. The Canvas 108 is Blizzard's first true nod to North American freeride tomfoolery. The result of three years of athlete-driven prototyping and testing, Canvas gives Blizzard the mid-fat playful freeride ski it had been missing. Less metal and more rocker, taper, and splay than the Rustler, plus topsheets born from an artist collaboration. The construction gives us a poppy and surfy ski that thrives in any amount of soft snow. A binding-width sheet of metal runs from contact point to contact point, but it's more about shape retention on landings than torsional rigidity. Oh, and that artist? Utah-based skier and creative Penelope Misa. She created the graphics using monotype printing, a medium that gives you one unique and non-repeatable design at a time. Kind of like the image we all want to leave on our favorite untracked powder run, our personal canvas. Allllll aboard!
