Our Take:
The Anomaly 102, the widest ski in Blizzard's new all-mountain collection, is...wait for it...purple. And we dig it. In ancient Phoenicia and around Mediterranean kingdoms, purple originated as a sign of royalty, wealth, and status. While we're happy that type of chromatic classism has mostly died, we will say this: the Anomaly 102 is built for ripper royalty. It upholds the hard-charging precedent of the Cochise 106, the ski it more or less replaces, while unlocking a whole new level. Yeah, it's built with two sheets of metal and a directional shape. But those two sheets of titanal are split into three strategically placed pieces that pack torsional rigidity while also sheering slightly to create an insanely smooth next-to-snow feel. When you open the throttle to Mach Looney, you still get a reliable Blizzard ski. But when you explore off piste or slow down in the afternoon, the Anomaly 102 can dial things back with you. It's a ridiculously nuanced balance for what might be the hardest-charging 102mm ski on the market. Most people who want to smear, slash, and freeride will want to grab the absurdly popular Rustler 10. But if you attack the fall line with the reckless abandon of high country royalty, you need to look at the Anomaly 102. This ski is just...different. Similar skis: Salomon Stance 102, Nordica Enforcer 104, Volkl Mantra 102.
