I'm on my 3rd ski season and over 150+ days with the Arc'teryx Rush Jacket. I've been super happy with it, haven't had any issues with it, and I would definitely recommend it to a friend. Yes, it is on the pricey side but it offers great versatile performance while skiing and it's very durable.
This jacket is made with the super rugged Gore-Tex pro. The upside of this is that it locks you in against what mother nature is dishing out at you whether it be wind, snow, or rain as well as branches that I frequently whack while skiing the trees. I've done a ton of storm skiing in this jacket and it's perfect for it. The only slight downside to this fabric is that is has a rougher touch, makes some noise when it rubs against things, and can be a little airtight for long super high output activities like long ski tours. So I have a lighter jacket with less waterproofing that I slightly prefer for ski touring. Yet, if you want to just roll with one jacket then this jacket is fully capable as a touring jacket and I frequently happily do 20 minute boot packs in this jacket.
This jacket is just a shell, albeit a thick one, so it's designed as a layering piece to be accompanied by an insulated jacket. For a typical winter day on the mountain with a high of 20 degrees, I wear a basic technical t shirt, a long sleeve midlayer, then an lighter insulated jacket aka a puffy jacket. I typically wear the Arc'teryx Atom LT Jacket as my insulation later and then on super cold days I'll add an additional layer.
As for sizing, I'm 5'11" and 165lb and after some consideration, I went with the large size. I could also wear a medium, it would just be a slimmer fit. For skiing though, I like a looser fit that gives me extra range of movement so I elected to roll with the large size. I hope this review is helpful for other skiers considering the Arc'teryx Rush Jacket.

Our Take:

Designed with 3L Most Rugged GORE-TEX Pro 2.0, the Rush Jacket is one of Arc'teryx's most durable and strong ski jackets to date. GORE-TEX Pro 2.0 is the strongest GORE-TEX material available, and the Rush jacket combines that with a 100D face fabric for additional durability and protection. Waterproof, and windproof, the Rush jacket still breathes when you're working up a sweat going uphill or downhill, and pit zips let you ventilate on warmer days. Articulated patterning in the design allows for maximum movement and mobility, without sacrificing durability. If all of this wasn't enough, two internal pockets and two external pockets give you enough storage for snacks, cellphones, Chapstick, and more. If you like to push your gear to the limit, and need unparalleled protection, the Rush jacket is here to help.

Arcteryx Rush Reviews:

A great all around ski jaket

I've been really happy with this jacket and would recommend it to a friend. It's definitely a shell with no insulation but I layer according to the day's conditions which gives this jacket a ton of flexibility. It doesn't feel too hot on warm spring days yet on cold winter days, I wear a thick puffy jacket underneath and I'm perfectly happy. The Gore-Tex fabric is like a fortress at keeping the wind out which helps a ton.
