Replacing the big, burly, straight-lining Rossignol Squad 7 would be a lot to ask of any ski. That beast was purpose-built to handle aggressive big mountain terrain at reckless speeds. Skiers with an appetite for such things can rejoice, however: the new Super 7 RD is a worthy successor. Though it looks exactly like the Rossignol Super 7 HD (which was 2017's Ski of the Year), the RD is wider, straighter, and stiffer. After all, RD stands for Race Department. Its 120mm waist floats in the deep, its eye-opening 30m radius makes straightlining steep bowls...less terrifying, and its blend of lightweight Paulownia wood with a carbon alloy matrix delivers stability without the heft. If this is the ski for you, you already know it.
