This Ski Is A Staff Favorite:

Powder7 Staff Pick Melissa
By: Melissa
It's hard to find a playful- freestyle ski that is burly enough to charge hard all over the mountain. The Line Blade Optic 104 provides the perfect balance of a stiff downhill ski that plays hard too. Because of way the metal is layered through this ski, it feels chargy and damp without being a lot of effort on your legs. You can maneuver trees and moguls with ease and speed, while also digging deep to charge right through cruddy snow or variable conditions. I used these skis at Winter Park, CO on an extremely windy day when the snow was chunky and hard. These were the perfect ski to play around in the classic Mary Jane moguls while also slicing through the frozen choppy snow in the back bowls. Basically, if you charge hard and play harder, the Line Blade Optic 104 is the perfect ski for you.

Our Take:

After some of us got to sneak some laps on the 2022-2023 Blade Optic 104 late last season, Powder7 staffers haven't stopped talking about the ski they can't wait to ride again. The all new Line Blade Optic 104 gives the modern freerider everything our picky little hearts desire. Slashy and playful, but drivable. Pivot-y and rips the bumps, but holds a great edge on the firm stuff. Built with features from the ultra playful and intuitive Line Vision series with the powerful Gas Pedal Metal from the original Line Blade skis, you get a wildly smooth ride that seamlessly transitions from turn to turn on a dime. A do-it-all waist width of 104mm underfoot gives you a healthy platform to float in powder and stomp landings, while still being quick enough to rip around in bumps and trees like you're on something much less wide. The softer, rockered tips and tails are easy to release in tight spots and are psyched to butter rollers and get loose. Ideal for budding freeriders looking to upgrade to a big mountain setup that won't punish them, all the way to seasoned experts who prioritize a playful ride that won't noodle out underneath them. Similar skis: Nordica Unleashed 108, Salomon QST 106, Blizzard Rustler 10.
