Nordica Skis 2024: First Look

Unlimited boots? Sign us up.

After breaking into the touring scene early last spring, the Nordica Enforcer 104 Unlimited became one of our favorite touring skis of the year. This year, Nordica brings a brand new Unlimited touring boot to the table to pair with the new skis. We’re also treated to a new, wider Unleashed ski to expand that new freeride ski line. A new year means new Nordica gear, and there’s a lot to UNpack. Let’s dive into the new 2024 Nordica skis and boots.

What’s New

Boots

Following the early release of Nordica’s Unlimited skis last spring, we have a new boot to go alongside it. The Unlimited boots a mid-weight touring boot, coming in at about 1500 grams for the pair. For our gram counters, this puts it about ~350 grams lighter than a Tecnica Cochise 130 and just under 200 grams heavier than a Tecnica Zero G. It’s pretty close in weight to the K2 Dispatch boot released last season. They fit fairly snug, with a 99mm last and a snug heel pocket. The four-buckle design and lever style walk mode secure you for a strong downhill ride, while the lightweight construction and ample range of motion keep things comfortable enough for that extra lap uphill.

Another cool feature on the Unlimited is the quick adjusting toe buckle. The buckle controls a cable that connects to the second instep buckle and provides tension over the top of your foot. When the buckle is flipped to hike mode, the tension is lower and gives you a more forgiving fit over the top of your foot. Snap it back to ski mode, and you’ve got a more snug fit for the downhill. The idea is to simplify your transitions, especially with finicky buckles with gloves on.

Nordica offers the Unlimited in a 130 and 120 flex on the men’s side, with a 115, 105, and 95 for the ladies. You’ll also find a 130 LT, a Grilamid-based lighter-weight option for our folks looking to save grams. Bonus? Both 130 models are offered down to a true 22.5, meaning our smaller-footed friends can find something plenty supportive for aggressive skiing.

Skis

As for the 2024 Nordica skis, there’s some more news there too. The recently released Unleashed series expands the lineup to an Unleashed 114. The new ski hosts the same construction as the rest of the line, just with an even deeper rocker and more splay to improve flotation in powder (alongside the wide waist width). Going along with the terrain-specific metal construction across the lineup, the 114 features the least amount of metal (but it’s still there).

There’s still an Unleashed 108, 98, and 90, all returning with small graphic updates.

The women’s Unleashed 98 and 90 get a new color. We’ll also get an Unleashed 108 for women next year. The new names of the skis will be Unleashed Ice or Unleashed Tree, depending on the topsheet.

The Nordica crew took us out for some turns on the new gear at Vail late last November, with the Nordica Unleashed 98 on the left, Unleashed 108 on the right, and Santa Ana 88 below.

The Unlimited touring skis get a paint job and a name change. Instead of a Santa Ana Unlimited and an Enforcer Unlimited, the skis go full unisex with just an Unlimted 88, Unlimited 94, and Unlimited 104 in a full-size run. They still share the same construction as shape as before, with the 88 and 94 hosting the flatter tail and more directional shape, and the 104 having more tail rocker and a more symmetrical (i.e. playful) shape.

Other Highlights

The Nordica Enforcer and Santa Ana series get their annual paint jobs. This year’s happens to be our favorite yet.

This year, the widest models of each line are out: the old pro model Enforcer 115 and the Santa Ana 110 Free.

You might notice the murdered out, black edition topsheet on the Enforcer 110 Free. Nordica wanted to call out their legendary Helldorado from years past and give the Enforcer 110 Free a little love.

New, frontside oriented Steadfast skis for men to compliment the popular Wild Belle skis. There’s a 75, 80, and 85, with the 85 having the stiffest, double core technology.

The Nordica HF (the “hands-free”, rear entry style boot) returns for another year, making it easier for all of us to get into our ski boots.

The wide-fitting Cruise also returns completely unchanged.

The Machine downhill boot series (Pro, Speed, and Sport), all return unchanged besides a few buckles on the Pro Machine.
