Stockli Skis 2021: The First Look
Speed kills
Since we brought Stockli into the Powder7 fold a couple years ago, the brand has been a favorite among fast-skiing customers and staffers (especially on early or late season groomer-shred days). They are well-made and ski smooth, and the collection of models give skiers a bunch of options for getting on a pair of Swiss Made rippers.
For 2021, we are particularly excited about Stockli’s new line of women’s freeride/all-mountain skis: the Nela. Offered at waist widths of 80mm, 88mm, and 96mm, the Nela profiles a lot like the Stormrider, but at a lighter weight and slightly softer flex. The lady shredders of Powder7 are looking forward to putting the ski to the test.
On the men’s side, Stockli is making some updates to the Stormrider 88 that fly against the tide of industry trends: they’re actually making a ski more traditional. The 2021 Stormrider 88 should ski more like older versions with newly added mass and a stiffer flex.
ON SNOW
Stormrider 88 – Justin, Matt, and Cody all skied the new Stormrider 88 at the Outdoor Retailer demo. Cody could only get on a 177cm, and although the ski bulked up in the off-season, he says that size is still scary for a 6’6″ dude used to skis in the upper 180s. Justin says the ski is “smooth, confidence-inspiring, and loves to go fast.” Matt says he had way too much fun on the Stormrider 88 in bumps.

What’s New
New topsheet for the super-popular Laser AX.

All-new Nela line of women’s freeride skis at 80mm, 88mm, and 96mm. These replace the Stormrider Motion and are built as Stormrider lite with wood and glass plus two sheets of metal. They are light, active, and damp.
Updates to the Stormrider 88 turn back the ski’s clock to make it slightly more aggressive with more mass and a stiffer flex.

Wider Stormriders stay come back unchanged.

MX Laser gets a new topsheet but no structural changes.
