Icelantic Skis 2021: The First Look
Introducing: Icy Pro Models!

Our neighbors here in Golden, Colorado at Icelantic Skis have always been good at several things. Their skis always look fantastic, with Travis Parr’s art constantly among our favorite topsheets in the biz. Their skis are fun and versatile. And their people are some of the finest in the industry.
For 2021, Icy dives into the world of pro collabs. During the off-season, their athletes (including Powder7 skier Owen Leeper) worked together and with Parr to develop a new men’s model, the Saba Pro, and a new women’s model, the Nia Pro. Both skis are built with the same guts as the skis in the freeride collection, but they feature full rocker profiles, flatter tails, and new shapes. In true Icelantic form, the full rocker has a twist. Dubbed “Reflective Rocker,” the rocker profile matches the arc of each ski’s sidecut radius. The idea is to make a fully rockered ski that’s surfy and playful while also maximizing edge hold when you engage with firmer snow.
The final flourish for the new models is their seven-themed monikers. “Saba” translates to seven in Swahili, while “Nia” is the seventh pillar of Kwanzaa, the principle of developing community and coming together. Works for us. We also like 7-themed things…

ON SNOW
Nia Pro: Matt, Mia, and Lauren all skied the Nia Pro at Outdoor Retailer’s on-snow demo. They all agreed that it skis better than you’d think on hard snow and absolutely shreds bumps and trees. For each of them, it was one of the favorites.
Saba Pro: Matt skied the Saba Pro at the same demo. He says: “You can’t truly test pow skis without deep powder, but in bumps and trees and some soft fluff, the Saba feels light, pivoty, and super fun. It also holds up pretty well going fast on groomers.”
