The Warmest Ski Clothing for a COVID Winter

A season without lodge fires and indoor hot chocolate. Brutal.

Ski season success depends on staying warm. | SKIER: Staffer Jonathan PHOTO: Matt McDonald | Wolf Creek Ski Area

Enough Doomsday talk, though. We all know COVID sucks for a million reasons. The key is responsibly overcoming the limitations it places on our lives. As skiers, that means we keep skiing.

So even though lodge cocktails are out and we can’t warm frozen toes by a flame, we can still keep warm on the hill and in the parking lot during aprés. We’ve just gotta wear the right stuff.

Presenting: The Warmest Ski Clothing

Women’s Jackets

Obermeyer Sojourner Down. A full-fledged parka with style…and a powder skirt. The Sojourner Down Jacket is Obermeyer’s premier lifestyle jacket, perfect for mountain towns, city streets, or wherever your winter getaways may take you. You can also ski in it if you just flat-out don’t want to get cold. Added bonus? The patterned interior to remind you that beauty is on the inside.

Fully waterproof, and featuring a hybrid synthetic and down insulated GORE-TEX construction, the Macai is durable, warm, and moisture-proof for frigid temperatures and icy chairlifts. The 750 fill European goose down insulation is placed in the core and the sleeves to give unparalleled warmth in key areas, while moisture repellent synthetic Coreloft is placed in the hem, hood, and underarms to provide warmth in moisture prone places. The 3L GORE-TEX construction is built to withstand the elements, and provides breathability for when you’re working up a sweat in the bumps and trees.

Gloves

warmest ski gloves hestra power heater

Hestra Power Heater Mitts. Because your hands and feet are the furthest from your heart, it’s no surprise that we often have customers complaining of cold hands. For those who need a little extra warmth, Hestra’s tried and true Power Heater Mitt is for you. Designed differently from most heated gloves, the Power Heater Mitt and Glove contain heating coils that run along the veins in your fingers in an “S” shape that transit heat at the nail beds. These heated coils heat the blood running through the veins, which make your hands feel warmer, all the way to your fingertips. Goat leather in the palm of the mitt provides dexterity and grip for recreational skiing. Depending on how cold it is outside, run the battery at three different levels – low, medium, or high — with the highest setting lasting about two hours.
