On Snow Review: Armada ARVw

Needless to say, we haven’t been blessed by the snow gods with countless powder days this season, especially compared to last year. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t fun to be had, it just means it’s time to start skiing some skinnier sticks.

The ARVw has a 97 waist which it perfect for front side carving but still wide enough for some float off trail. But what this ski really wants to do is carve hard and go fast. So I did just that. I felt incredibly stable and comfortable bombing down the runs, and that is because of the carbon fiber layup and the laminate matrix. The laminate matrix is a directional layering of fiberglass that gives the ski a specific flex pattern and torsional rigidity allowing you to drive the ski confidently on hard pack and variable terrain. Though this ski likes to shred hard, it is equally as playful. I was able to slow it down and have a some fun. Buttering and nose presses seemed effortless. The ARVw is poppy and lively because it has Carbon and Kevlar stringers in the tip and tail.

The ARVw really wants to drive big turns. It has a relatively long turning radius of 18.5m at the 168 length which made skiing in the trees and bumps a little more exhausting. All in all I had a blast on the ARVw. These sticks are a great all mountain ski that will make you feel confident at high speeds on variable terrain and hard pack but they still float when there is some powpow! I absolutely recommend this ski to any lady who wants to rip at speed and have a playful and responsive ski to make the mountain a playground. Get your own Armada ARVw at Powder7.com
