Head Skis 2021: The First Look

Good Vibes

Head’s Supershape redesign features some new-age tech.

As our staff has grown to appreciate skinny skis more than ever, Head’s Supershape collection has reigned supreme as some of our all-time favorites in the recreational race ski category. Now for 2021, they are getting an upgrade.

Our favorite Supershape, the i.Titan becomes the e-Titan thanks to a rebuild that features Head’s newest structural innovation: EMC, or Energy Management Circuit. This is some mad-science stuff—and if we know Head, it will ski incredibly well on snow. Essentially, EMC removes bad vibrations with a mix of two sheets of metal (thinner this year) and graphene plates. Head has pinpointed vibrations over 80 hz as “bad” and vibrations more mellow as “good.” This makes the skis more predictable with better edge hold and also more accessible. Head also lowered the camber profile and moved the sidecut back, making the skis require less angle to engage on hard snow.

As our rep puts it: “All you need to know about EMC is good vibes.”

Oh—there’s also a new Kore. Here are all the details:

What’s New

The Supershapes, some of our favorite recreational race skis ever, feature new constructions with EMC technology. Thinner metal, graphene plates, race rocker (rocker marked by colored line toward the tip of the ski). They’ll also be available in a longer length, 184cm, and new names: e-Titan, e-Rally, e-Magnum, e-Speed, and e-Original.

New e-Titan now measures 84cm underfoot (i.Titan measured 80mm). Other Supershapes increase by a millimeter at the waist.

Kore collection now includes an 87mm version in men’s and women’s.

New Prestige is a premium version of the e-Rally at 78mm underfoot with an I-sheet and laminate wood core.
