Introducing Our Custom Folsom Skis

Just down the road from us in Denver, Folsom builds custom skis for all types of skiers. Run by a handful of skiers who love the sport, Folsom knows having the right gear for you makes skiing that much more fun. And nothing is more fun than having skis customized specifically for you. Custom skis aren’t just for experts, they’re for anyone who really loves skiing.

The whole mini collection.

But Folsom doesn’t just make custom skis, they also make rad skis. We always get questions from customers curious about the company. So, we went through the custom build process to make skis we’d want to ride, then share them with you all. A poppy frontside option with the Spar 88, the playful all-mountain option that tackles any condition in the Completo 100, and a big-mountain crusher with the Cash 106. The result is a little something for everyone. If you’ve been looking to check out a Folsom ski, but don’t want to quite dive into the full custom build process, this gives you a taste of what Folsom has to offer.

To top it off, we brought in our favorite artist, Sarah Beabout, to create new and completely custom graphics for each ski. Between the custom skis Sarah designed last year and these, it’s getting harder and harder to pick our favorites…

Check out our first look below and read up on what each ski is all about.

folsom spar 88

Spar 88

The Spar 88 is all about carving awesome arcs. The shape has plenty of sidecut, letting the ski quickly turn and respond as soon as you want it to. For this model, we went with the directional rocker profile. A healthy amount of rocker in the tip and just a hair of tail rocker give you easy turn initiation and linkage. There’s no metal in this model, but plentiful camber provides solid edge grip. The camber also gives the ski a lot of rebound (similar to a Black Crows Camox), making this a lively little ride.

folsom completo 100

Completo 100

For a do-it-all-anywhere, one-ski quiver, look no further. We love all-mountain skis that maximize what the mountain has to offer. Something that’s fun in all different terrain and conditions and maintains performance even when things get rough. The Completo 100 was the easy answer, with a playful shape that is quick to turn and super responsive. Deeper taper and a more true twin-tipped shape, plus plenty of rocker in the tip and tail, add up to a very responsive and maneuverable ski. As soon as you think about taking a turn, the Completo responds. We went with a softer flex on this one (the softest out of all three) for a more playful feel, but this is no noodle. You can still tackle frosty days and firm snow, all with a bit more style.

folsom cash 106

Cash 106

While we love ripping turns on skinny sticks and popping off of side hits, for many of us, our heart lies in big skis and big-mountain terrain. Enter: the Cash 106. Compared to the Completo, the Cash has a more directional shape. That shape provides more stability at higher speeds and lends itself to bigger, faster turns. Folsom still offers their everyday rocker on this model—pretty deep rocker in the tip and tail—so the tails release easier than something very planted to the snow. You can push this ski for sure, without being punished if you happen to slip up or need to take a quick turn.
