Powder7 Ranked Among Outside Magazine’s Best Places to Work

As we celebrate 10 years of Powder7 this autumn, we’re just as excited to announce our inclusion in Outside Magazine’s 2017 Best Places to Work. A total of 100 US-based companies made the list, and we ranked 50th. These are businesses, small and large, that value not just profitability, but quality of life, as well–and we’re proud to be counted among them.

Outside Magazine calculates these ranking based on surveys that go out to all employees, covering topics that range from the usual benefits (pay, vacation time, retirement plan contributions) to the finer details of a company’s culture and employee satisfaction.

So why are we on there? Our tangible and intangible benefits have come a long way in the past decade. Here’s what we do:

  • Paid vacation time after 1 year
  • 1 month paid sabbatical after 5 years
  • SEP retirement account after working 6 months in 1 calendar year
  • Use of our Powder7 Adventure Van
  • Employee purchase discounts on all the gear we carry from the 1st day of employment
  • Access to a massive fleet of shop demo skis free of charge
  • Twice weekly company lunches (once weekly in the summer)
  • Super involved and accessible owners (that also do stuff like write posts for our shop blog…)
  • Weekly meetings, led by our owners, where everyone has a chance to speak up
  • Free snacks, coffee, tea
  • Regular company outings and happy hours
  • Annual company ski trip that everyone is included in
  • Ski pass reimbursement
  • Competitive pay

I guess I could keep going, but you get the idea. Jordan and I believe that a happy and fulfilled person is not only a more productive employee, but is also more likely to be a better team player and to make a positive impact–both at work and beyond. We want to do whatever we can to increase the quality of life for our employees, and doing so increases our own happiness and fulfillment. We’re looking forward to adding more perks as we grow, and increasing our ranking in years to come.

Interested in working here? We still have a couple of openings left for the 17-18 season!
