2023-2024 Fischer Skis Preview

Fischer Skis 2024: The First Look

Traverse the Alps (or your local Alps).

As a highly decorated alpine downhill and nordic racing brand, Fischer screams performance for demanding skiers. After overhauling their Ranger line last year, Fischer looks to transform (pun intended) their touring skis with a refreshed Transalp series. Alongside the drop of their new RC4 BOA boots, Fischer continues to deliver high performance gear for folks who like to ski, and now discover, more. Here’s what is new for Fischer skis in 2024.

What’s New

Fischer releases the new Transalp touring skis. These skis aim to hit the sweet spot of lightweight touring skis that ski hard on the downhill. To take the lightweight build to the next level, the Transalp borrows the Shaped Ti metal shape from the all-mountain freeride Ranger series released last year.

The Shaped Ti didn’t need to be altered. Already ultra light and thin at half a milimeter, the metal doesn’t add a tremendous amount of weight. Shaped sort of like a tapered fork, the metal extends into the tip and tail before ending well before the shovels. This gives you a softer, “Air Tec” tip for extra play, a more surfy feel, and easier turn initiation.

Other features include their Tour Rocker profile, carbon stringers, and a lightweight Paulownia wood core. There’s a few options in the collection, with a beefy Transalp 105 CTI (whose creamy color harkens to the Ranger 108), Transalp 98 CTI, and Transalp 86 CTI (in two color options). There’s also two Transalp CTI Pro models (a 92mm and 86mm waisted), which are even lighter. Ideal for ski mountaineer folks who need a confidence inspring ride on the descent.

The other big news is the new alpine BOA boots Fischer is releasing for next year. They’ve featured BOA on some alpine touring models before (see the Fischer Traverse). But, this brand new BOA system brings new technology optimized for skiing to high performance downhill boots.

The Fischer RC4 Pro in particular is unique, with their own custom branded ZipFit coming stock in that boot. Combined with a stiffer upper cuff that bumps the flex close to 140, the RC4 is undeniably one of the highest peformance downhill boots you can buy right off the shelf—without major aftermarket customization.

Other Highlights

The Ranger series comes back unchanged, with a little sibiling. The new Ranger 84 offers the same mold without metal, in a skinnier package. A perfect ski for progressing intermediates who love to stay on-trail.

Besides BOA, the new RC4 collection includes a lot of new buckle closure options as well. There are a variety of flexs across a 98mm last low volume mold, 100mm mid-volume, and 102mm high volume.
