Half Front Range dogs. Half mountain wolves. Call us Balto wannabees.
In a spectacle of bright colors, brighter personalities, and blazing San Juan sun, the Powder7 crew descended on Wolf Creek Ski Area earlier this month for its annual company ski-treat.
Like any diligent staff, we spent long hours reviewing best practices (for dropping cliffs), honing operational procedures (two hours of nightly hot tub time), team building (party groomer laps), attending service training (skiing 50-plus pairs of skis), and exploring some nuances of our industry—like rocker profiles, goggle tans, hot springs, oxygen bars, homemade ice cream, lodge burgers, and powder stashes.
The Highlights
The Pinnacle of Company Getaways
The Wolf Creek trip, now in its fourth year, tells you three things about Powder7. One, owner Jordan possesses some wizard-like ability to conjure powder. While this year’s trip was the first to miss a big storm, the skiing was bolstered by the 30 inches of snow that dropped on Wolf Creek three days before our arrival.
Two, we get frenetic about chasing snow and skiing together, but not enough to drop our responsibilities. The trip is orchestrated to give every Powder7 employee three ski days and three nights in a cozy mountain house. While a group or two hits the field, the rest of the team holds down the homefront, selling and shipping gear in Golden.
We like to think we’re pretty good at blending work and play. It’s part of the reason Outside Magazine named us one of its Best Places to Work in 2017.
And three—we like skiing. A lot.
