Ski Season Is Here

From the Arapahoe Basin Facebook Page

Ski season is upon us! Arapahoe Basin opens tomorrow, Friday, October 17th for the 2014-15 ski season. You know some of us from Powder7 will be there this weekend. We’re sure Loveland Ski Area will open shortly too. This video should pump you up to get out there: Dance Parties, High Fives, and Powder. Skiing huge lines, deep powder, or perfect corduroy is great and all, but really it’s about hanging with your friends. For our friends back east, we haven’t heard of Sugarbush or Sunday River opening any time soon (sorry!).

Get stoked and see you on the slopes!

  1. Hi Katie. My friend Jaime says your advice rocks and was very instrumental to her purchasing a pair of skis from you recently. I’m hoping you can steer me in the right direction as well!

I recently moved to Aspen from Denver and have a “gear to purchase” list that is a mile long. As such, I’m trying to zero in on an AT setup that will allow me to “do it all” until I can afford to purchase separate setups for powder skiing, backcountry, uphilling, etc. I’m looking for a setup that will allow me to do the following without too much compromise in any one area: hike the Aspen Highlands Bowl, ski the moguls, skin up Buttermilk, and go into the backcountry. I have purchased La Sportiva Sparkle boots but still need skis, bindings with brakes and skins.

Skis have me flummoxed, so I’d love your advice. I’ve been looking at three alternatives to do the above described skiing: Rossignol Saffron 7, Kastle TX97 and Voile V6. I believe you carry the Rossignol and Kastle, so can you compare those for me? If you know about the Voile too that would be a bonus!

    Thanks so much!
    Candace
