Elan Skis 2024: The First Look
Make the Play.
Over the last few years, the name of the game from Elan remained Ripstick. The asymmetric, light weight freeride skis rose to the top of Powder7 staff and customer’s favorites list. After dialing things in, Elan keeps the fan favorite Ripsticks, but brings in an ultra playful alternative to the scene: the Playmaker. Now with a more directional, charge-y line and a more playful line, Elan skis in 2024 offer a wide smathering of product for everyone.
What’s New
The all-new Playmaker 101 and 91 have been in the works for a few years. As you might infer from the name, the Playmaker wants to maximize fun. Prirotizing an extremely playful and surfy ride, the Playmaker is a nearly twin-tipped, softer flexing, all-mountain freeride ski with freestyle flair. Unlike many Elan skis, no need to keep track of left and right—these bad boys are as sysmmetrical as it gets.
Elan took some inspiration from the Ripstick series and Ripstick Tour series to keep the skis light. The Playmaker uses their Tubelite woodcore that balances energy and playfulness in a light weight package. The 360 sidewalls, also found on the Ripstick Tour, help shave weight while retaining the strength and support of a full sidewall. As a result, the 101 comes in at ~1760 grams in a 180cm length. A low swing weight means your legs stay fresher throughout the day and are easier to swing in the air.
You’ll also see new Primetime skis. This line was designed with the idea of “make carving fun again”, using Elan’s trademark Amphibio profile and dual titanal reinforcement to balance intuitive turning with power for carving.
Other Highlights
The entire Ripstick collection returns unchanged this year with the same graphics.
New graphics to the Ripstick Black Edition skis. A new Wingman 86 BE to go alongside.
The all-mountian carving Wingman collection gets topsheet upgrades and new construction features that are more eco-friendly.
