As part of a recommendation from our knowledgeable sales rep , I chose the Kastle XX110 West as my go-to tree skiing set up. I would have chosen the 190cm for more all mountain use, but I wanted the agility of the 180cm specifically for tree skiing. I found that the 180cm length has a top speed. Since the ski has considerable tip and tail rocker, it feels a bit shorter than 180cm on the groomers. When I laid out a few fast giant slalom turns, I could feel the lightness of the ski as it tried to hang on. The XX West loves to make short playful jib-type turns and has great pop when you ollie off rollers. If you like to use every part of the trail and pop in and out of the trees, this ski is perfect. Landing switch was amazing since the ski has symmetrical dimensions. Although I did not ski this at chord center (I mounted it according to boot center/recommended), I found that transitioning from backwards to forwards was incredibly easy in powder and on the groomers. I was loving the dual Hollowtip design in the bumps and in the trees. It makes the ski incredibly easy to move and noticeably enhances agility. I’d imagine with some twin tip skin adaptors, this would also make for a great freeride touring ski.
