This past weekend I took out the K2 SuperStitious skis to Copper Mountain. The Super series is an updated version of the Luv series. Everyone loved the Luvs, so why change? K2 found that people were asking for wider skis in general so they widened the Luvs, upgraded the graphics, and made them Super. The dimensions of the Lotta Luv were 125/82/110, the SuperStitious is 128/84/112. The SuperStitious is just 2mm wider throughout.
Skiing the SuperStitious is fun. These skis do everything you want them to do on the front side of the mountain. I wouldn’t take them to the backside of Vail. They’re super easy to turn. They are speedy on the groomed runs. On scraped slopes, they don’t grip as well as I’d like and the tips chatter. If I was skiing mostly scraped slopes and/or ice, I would look to a Fischer, Icelantic, Elan, or Head ski. Although K2 says these are an expert level ski, I would say they’re suitable for aspiring advanced intermediates. In that I mean, you are an intermediate and want to advance. These skis could take you on a ride if you’re not paying attention. The SuperStitious ski exactly like the Lotta Luv so don’t let the name change fool you. I’d recommend them for intermediates who like speed and venturing in the trees, or women who want to go a little wider with their skis. I can almost guarantee that you will luv these a lotta… I mean super love them.

Glad to find this review as I’m considering the K2 Superstitious ski and I am an intermediate that is very sad as my Lotta Luvs were stolen last weekend … They were so pretty and like a best buddy! Dumb huh? So I need replacements pronto for next weekend!
I’m in the east coast so ice and yucky conditions happen here especially this season …I tore my ACL skiing so I am not a speed demon but love carving to control my speed and hey I’m 57 so I don’t want any more injuries! Any thoughts?? Thanks!

I recently borrowed a friends Lotta Luvs and just LOVED them. The snow was variable that day at Copper, but the skis seemed to do well in all the conditions: stable, turn easily, speedy, and I didn’t have to push the tails around the corner. I ski mostly front side, I like groomers but would like to get better at smaller bumps and more comfortable if I happen upon a day with some powder. I was an advanced intermediate skier – and would describe myself as a slalom style skier v GS or Downhill skier. Looking forward to technology getting my confidence back!
What’s the difference in feel of the Oolaluvs and the Superstitious? I have an opportunity to demo skis this weekend and appreciate your insight.

There isn’t much of a difference between the OoolaLuv and the Superstitious. The OoolaLuv is the most updated version. It is slightly wider (85mm vs. 82mm) and has a different core (Channel Light vs BioFlex3). It would be really hard to tell the difference in the width even if you skied these back to back. The core materials are the same as before but they redistributed the wood– again I’d find it very hard to tell the difference.
