Moment PB&J Review, Result: Delicious

When I was younger, the most important thing to me was playing with my friends outside until dark every day. It’s not rocket science that every kid needs an after school snack to keep their energy going. For me that snack was always a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Run home from the bus, cram in a PB&J, then go run wild for 5 hours. While my snack choices have branched out since then, I have not felt as young, alive, and crazy since getting on the 2013 Moment PB&J skis. They may even bring out a side of you that you never knew existed. I mean, look how happy I am with these things and I hadn’t even ridden them yet!

If you are looking for an unbelievable all mountain ski that can literally handle anything you throw at it, check out the PB&J. The 101mm underfoot width makes this the perfect ski for all parts of the mountain. It has a healthy dose of rocker in the tip and a little more subtle rocker in the tail. Upon first glance, this ski appears to be geared more towards powder and soft snow freestyle skiing, but I was blown away by the ski’s ability to hold an edge on groomed runs. With any ski that has this much rocker in the tip, one can expect at least a mild amount of chatter when screaming down the groomers. Not on this ski. We only had about 1 inch of fresh snow when I got to Keystone the morning I took these out, so as you can imagine I was on groomers most of the day. The vertical sidewall that comes on these skis will have you ripping them like a GS ski all day.

The Aspen/Pine core gives the ski a stable yet snappy feeling for maximum fun. Landing jumps on these is like having a shock absorber under your feet, very little reverb from the impact of landing. If you are one of those guys who likes to rip it backwards, this ski performs just as well switch as it does forward.

I could not agree more with Moment’s tagline for this ski; “We don’t believe in one ski quivers, but if we did, this would be the one.” Another great thing about Moment Skis is that they are handmade in Reno, Nevada. All Moment skis have a great 1 year warranty. Not that you will ever need it though, because these are some of the most durable skis I have ever encountered. I have worked mine in for a good 2 days now and there is barley any signs of use. The skis are ready to rip right out of the box, though you may see some slight oxidation on the bases of new skis. This can easily be cleaned up with a quick wax over. The bases on these skis are 1.2mm Durasurf Sintered, meaning they like as much wax as you can give them.

So you really have to ask yourself, “Am I hungry for fast lines, fresh snow and a rockin’ good time?” If this sounds like it might be you, go ahead, feast on a PB&J.
